We checked 7 ice rinks near Windsor, from Windsor on Ice to Hampton Court Palace, for 2026 dates, prices and age rules. Updated November 2026.
There are 7 ice rinks within about 45 minutes’ drive of Windsor in 2026, and this guide puts them in one place with dates, prices and age rules. Windsor on Ice is on the doorstep, Slough Ice Arena is the nearest open all year, and Hampton Court Palace has the setting. Every entry checked against the rink’s own site on 5 November 2026, except where it says otherwise.
We have not skated at any of these for this guide, and nothing here is a review. Each entry gives what the rink’s own website or booking system showed, and the rules that catch families out: who has to skate with children, and whether skate hire is extra. Christmas rinks can price by day and time, so the checkout figure may differ. Distances and drive times are approximate, from Windsor town centre with no traffic.
Christmas rinks
1. Windsor on Ice
A real-ice rink with a fairground in Alexandra Gardens, a short walk from both Windsor stations, running from Friday 13 November to Sunday 3 January. Opening night is 5pm to 9pm, and the rink closes to the public from 3pm on Thursday 19 November for a gala night.
Tiny Tuesdays run on 17 and 24 November and 1, 8 and 15 December, and access sessions for disabled skaters run on Wednesday mornings. Santa visits on 12, 13, 19, 20 and 24 December, from 12pm to 5pm.
The minimum age on the ice is 4, and under-12s must have an adult with them. The calendar’s rows for 21 and 22 December print a 10pm start, which looks like a slip for 10am.

It warns that the ice can develop a thin layer of water, and the whole site is cashless. Children under 3 are not allowed on the ice.
Under-13s must have an adult (18 or over) on the ice with them, with their own ticket, and one adult can supervise up to five children. Weekdays before 3pm are its quietest sessions.

The fair runs from Saturday 7 November to Sunday 3 January. The booking calendar, read on 20 October, showed 45-minute sessions on the hour, with the last at 9pm, and six on Christmas Day.
We could not read the skating-only price at checkout, so the figure below comes from the What the Redhead Said family blog. The organiser’s FAQ still lists older wristband prices, so go by its home page.

6. Slough Ice Arena
An indoor rink on Montem Lane run by Everyone Active, about 3 miles and 7 minutes from Windsor, with public skating on every day of the week. That read also listed an Ice Disco on Fridays from 8.45pm at £8.30, and an adult and child session for under-fives on Wednesdays at 10.30am. Under-8s must have an adult with them.
The centre lists a raised viewing platform with a wheelchair lift, and ramp and lift access to the rink.

A training rink on Western Road, about 12 miles and 21 minutes from Windsor, and about 5 miles and 10 minutes from Ascot. Public sessions last 60 minutes and must be booked online, and every skater needs a completed waiver.
The rink’s site blocked our check on 5 November, so these details come from another of our titles’ read on 4 November. That read found colour-changing lights run in Christmas holiday sessions from 12.45pm, with a warning for people with a photosensitive condition.
Open all year; sample booking dates show Tuesday 7.15pm, Saturday from 12.05pm and Sunday from 12pm; 26 December 11.30am to 4.30pm; 1 January 11.30am to 2pm; no sessions on Christmas Day

How we chose
These are the rinks within about 45 minutes of Windsor with published 2026 dates or current prices. Dates, prices and rules come from each rink’s own website, price list or booking system, except where an entry says otherwise. Our search found no public rink announced for Maidenhead, Ascot, Eton, Datchet or Cookham this Christmas. Guildford Spectrum, about 25 miles away, is left out because its price appears only inside its booking system, which we could not read, and it has no public skating from 9 to 13 December. Planet Ice Basingstoke, about 34 miles away, is left out on distance, though it is the nearest we found with a Christmas Day session on its own site, from 10am to 12pm at £10. Lapland UK at Ascot includes skating in its ticket, but Visit Windsor’s listing says the 2026 season is sold out. Run a place that should be here, or spot something that has changed? Email newsdesk@windsortoday.co.uk. Taken a good photograph of any of these places? Email it to newsdesk@windsortoday.co.uk and we will add it with your name as the credit.

Frequently asked questions
Is there an ice rink in Windsor?
Yes. Windsor on Ice runs in Alexandra Gardens from Friday 13 November 2026 to Sunday 3 January 2027, closed on Christmas Day. An adult pays £17 and a child £15, plus a £1.50 booking fee. The nearest rink open all year is Slough Ice Arena on Montem Lane, about 3 miles from Windsor.
Is there an ice rink in Maidenhead or Ascot?
We found no public rink announced in Maidenhead for Christmas 2026. Windsor on Ice is about 6 miles from Maidenhead. Ascot is about 5 miles from Ozone Ice Rink in Bracknell. Lapland UK at Ascot includes ice skating in its ticket, but Visit Windsor’s listing says the 2026 season is sold out, so it is not a rink you can walk into.
Which ice rink near Windsor is open on Christmas Day?
Windsor on Ice, Hampton Court, Chiltern View, Skate the Estate and Ozone have no sessions on 25 December. Reading Winter Wonderland’s booking calendar, read on 20 October, listed six sessions from 12pm to 5pm. Slough Ice Arena had no Christmas timetable when last read on 1 November.
