Windsor on Ice returns to Alexandra Gardens from Friday 13 November. Adults £17, children £15, a family of four £56, plus £1.50 fees; sessions last 45 minutes.

Windsor on Ice is back in Alexandra Gardens for Christmas 2026. The rink’s own site says “We are OPEN this year, for the Christmas 2026 season!” and that it opens to everyone from Friday 13 November until 3 January (Windsor on Ice). Tickets are on sale now, from £17 for an adult and £15 for a child, and each session lasts 45 minutes.

Updated 4 October: the opening date is settled. An older “26th November - 2nd January” banner still sits in the homepage’s code, but it is switched off and no longer shows; the live text gives 13 November to 3 January.

Prices

These are from the rink’s own booking site, read on 29 September 2026 (Windsor on Ice tickets). Each carries a £1.50 booking fee on top.

Ticket Price
Adult £17.00
Child, 17 and under £15.00

Skate hire is included, in sizes from child 7 to adult 15. Penguin, snowman, polar bear and toboggan skate aids cost from £6.50 a session and are limited, so book them with the ticket (FAQs). Groups of seven or more pay less, from £16 an adult and £14 a child on the booking site.

Opening hours

The rink gives these hours:

  • Weekdays outside the school Christmas holidays: 12 noon to 9pm.
  • Weekends: 10am to 9pm.
  • In the Christmas holidays: 10am to 9pm every day except Christmas Day.

Its homepage dates the holiday hours “from Monday the 23rd of December”. In 2026 the 23rd is a Wednesday, so that line is carried over from an earlier year; expect the longer hours once the schools break up. The fairground opens at 4pm on weekdays outside the school holidays and 11am at weekends, and ride wristbands are sold at the fairground booth (Windsor on Ice).

What a session is like

  • Sessions last 45 minutes. Arrive 15 to 20 minutes early to collect skates.
  • The minimum age is four, and children under 12 must skate with a parent or carer.
  • The main rink is covered and runs in all weather; it only cancels for exceptional high winds. The ice can still be wet, so waterproofs are the rink’s own advice.
  • There is no cloakroom. Small items can be stored with your shoes at the skate desk, at your own risk.
  • No refunds, unless the rink is forced to close. If you cannot make your session, it will move your booking to another date.

All from the rink’s FAQs.

Tiny Tuesdays and All Access Wednesdays

Tiny Tuesdays are calm sessions for children up to eight, with no minimum age. They run on 17 and 24 November and 1, 8 and 15 December, at 10am, 11am, 12 noon and 1pm. One adult skates free with each paying child, taken off at checkout, and the penguin and snowman aids are free (Tiny Tuesdays).

All Access Wednesdays are set aside for disabled skaters, who can also skate at any other session. The rink’s offers page adds that only one wheelchair user can be on the ice in any public session, for safety reasons (offers).

Discounts

The rink lists two (offers):

  • 10% off single adult tickets for Advantage Card holders, students with an NUS card and pensioners, only at the rink’s ticket office, not online.
  • Two for one on adult tickets if you spend £50 in Windsor town centre. Bring the receipts to the ticket office. It is Monday to Friday only and cannot be booked online. The page gives the qualifying window as 14 November to 5 January, which matches last season’s dates rather than this one’s, so check at the desk.

Getting there and parking

The rink is at Alexandra Gardens, Barry Avenue, SL4 3HY, between the river and the town centre (directions).

  • Car: the pay and display car park next to the gardens is entered from Alma Road. The council’s Alexandra Gardens car park is £2.30 for an hour, £7.00 for three hours, and Alma Road charges the same. Full tariffs, and the borough residents’ free hour, are on our parking in Windsor page.
  • Train: Windsor & Eton Riverside, direct from London Waterloo, and Windsor & Eton Central, via Slough, are both a short walk away.
  • Bus: routes 12 and 15 stop on Arthur Road, then walk along Alma Road or Goswell Road.

Christmas shopping Saturdays fill the town car parks early. Our roadworks and travel page carries any closures that week.
